Children’s Gift Lists

Well, it’s approaching that time of the year again. When I was over at my dad’s place yesterday, my little half-sisters presented me with their hand-written “wish lists.” Here are a few items I picked out from 8 year old K’s 41 item list:

  1. A bookmark that has a face on it on the top (make sure it’s at least a circle on top that I can have fun playing with or looking at)
  2. A big strawberry pillow w/a little girl in a strawberry costume toy (small to cuddle up with)
  3. A t-shirt or sweater that is orange & white on it w/a star in the middle

Good luck to anyone trying to find K’s specific items. My question is, does she actually have something that she’s seen in mind when she comes up with these things or is she just inventing items that she thinks we should be able to find for her? In any case, this isn’t the first time she’s sent us on this type of scavenger hunt.

6 year old L’s list was much smaller, so I’m including the whole list:

  1. Little Bratz Baby
  2. Barbie clothes & hat
  3. I want a teddy bear & movie that is a Barbie
  4. I like a Barbie dvd & video
  5. I want a jewelry box & a necklace
  6. The 12 Dancing Princess Barbie
  7. I want a folder that is Lisa Frank
  8. I want a night light so I won’t be scared
  9. I want a Barbie Highlight Hair!

The items on L’s list are definitely easier to find. Notice the theme? This kid has been fixated on Barbie items for years now. We’ve decided Pooky will not be playing with Barbies or Barbie types of dolls, but that’s another blog post.

I wholeheartedly agree– we are anti-Barbie as well. Our Lily is 2 and her cousins are obsessed with Barbie, I have a feeling it is going to be a bit of a battle.
