Don’t Charge the Baby

I’m of the opinion that babies are crucial to the survival of our species. As such, they should be welcomed into society with open arms, invited to experience all the world has to offer. Instead, many entertainment venues see fit to charge them for admission to their events. In one such case, covered in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram (link below), a grandmother had to pay $45 for a ticket for her 7-month-old granddaughter to attend a classical music concert. She wasn’t even going to be taking up a seat.

Now, I understand that there are certain situations where babies can be disruptive. I would’ve thought a concert of classical music would be one of those situations. That’s fine. In those cases, babies shouldn’t be allowed in, ticket or no. But for events where babies are permitted, charging admission just seems greedy, doesn’t it? Anyway, it’s something to check for before bringing your baby to an event requiring tickets.

Here’s the article in the Star-Telegram.

In other news that’s completely different but still fits the headline, a 3-month-old baby in India was charged with robbery, extortion and banditry after a bus driver was robbed. Kids these days…
