Coming up with a name for Pooky was quite a process. We eliminated about a million names before finally settling on one that May and I were both happy with (Pooky is not her real name, btw). We wanted something kinda original, kinda interesting, but not so out there that she’d get weird looks for the rest of her life because of it. The most important thing is for her not to resent us forever because of her name. Hopefully, we’ve accomplished all of that.

Apparently, there’s a growing number of parents in Britain with a different set of concerns about their babies’ names:

Britney, Tiger, Gandalf and Madonna will soon join the more usual Peters and Janes in Britain’s playgrounds, while Harry Potter may also drop in, according to a new survey of babies’ names.

Other newly-fashionable choices include Snoop, after the US rap star, who may end up hanging out with Reebok and Adidas, said the survey of what parents are choosing to call their offspring.

I hope these kids can forgive their parents some day.
