If you can’t stand talking about baby poo, you might not want to read this.
I remember reading in a few places that babies who are breastfed don’t have smelly poo. Well, when Pooky’s poo turned from that tarry, black substance that babies initially produce into the watery, yellow poo, it certainly wasn’t odorless. I thought Pooky just wasn’t like all the other breastfed babies; she had smelly poo.
I also read that once solids are introduced, that’s when the poo starts smelling. Pooky’s been slowly eating more solids, and lately, her poo has been extra smelly. I think I now understand why people say that exclusively breastfed babies don’t have smelly poo. Compared to what Pooky’s poo smells like now, the way it used to smell was practically pleasant.
The thing that amazes me about her poo is where it lands in the diaper (or outside of the diaper). Sometimes it’s all in the back (which makes sense to me) and sometimes it’s all in the front (which doesn’t make sense to me).
Before Pooky came along, it had been a while since I last changed a poopoo diaper. The only thing I remember about changing poopoo diapers was that I would usually get this instant gag reflex. Strangely enough, it doesn’t seem to be a big deal when it’s your own kid. Except that it can be quite a chore cleaning up those diaper blowouts.
