Celebrity Babies: Another Take On It

This is my response to Josh’s post about celebrity babies. You should read that first or you might get confused.

I would have to disagree with Danielle’s quote about why people are so into celebrity babies. When I was pregnant, I was interested in celebrity pregnancies because I was interested in anything related to pregnancy and babies. I could identify with pregnant celebrities from the standpoint of being pregnant as well, but I definitely didn’t feel better about my rapidly growing body because there were celebs who were rapidly growing as well.

I was pregnant with Pooky at the same time that Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie were pregnant. One day during my pregnancy, I was having one of those hormonal “I’m getting so fat and I can’t fit into anything anymore and I look and feel awful” moments. Josh then proceeds to put me in front of the computer and show me pregnancy photos of Katie and Angelina to “make me feel better.” Let me just say, it did not make me feel better. I’m not sure what Josh was thinking, but he quickly learned that it was the wrong way to try to cheer me up.

I think people are crazy about celebrity babies because people are crazy about any type of celebrity rite of passage (weddings, babies, etc.). What do you think?
