Although a large diaper bag is sometimes necessary, I prefer to carry around as compact a bag as I can possibly get away with. The Mommy Purse from Rebecca Denny Designs is a compact and versatile bag for the mommy on the go. Despite its size, I was able to stuff quite a bit of baby stuff into this small bag.
I got my hands on the new version of the Mommy Purse set for release in July. This version has straps that can be positioned to be carried in several different ways: as a tote, backpack, messenger bag, or stroller bag. This versatility allows you to be prepared for most situations when you’re out and about with baby. There was a bit of a learning curve for me, though, in remembering how to position the straps appropriately for each position.
The Mommy Purse is meant to carry the basics, so it doesn’t have a lot of organizational features such as separate pockets to hold diapers and wipes. It does have two inside zip pockets on either side and a pocket on the front that fits small items. There are also two side pockets for bottles and sippy cups, although I didn’t find them to be very secure for large bottles and sippies, perhaps due to the shallowness of these slit pockets. Everything else goes into the main compartment which, as I’ve noted, is deceptively roomy.
Overall, the Mommy Purse is a stylish compact diaper bag that can be used well beyond the diaper years. Watch for the new design to be released in July. Meanwhile, the older models without the adjustable straps are currently marked down at The Pampered Baby for $75.
